Estimates that start from the press sheet

InfusePrint builds every estimate from an actual imposition, then prices paper, press time and finishing from that layout. Press and bindery times are calibrated against the runs your operators record, so the next quote is closer than the last.

Building a quote: the sheet layout sets the price.

How a quote is built

From the layout to the price

A rule-of-thumb price per piece can’t see how a job lands on the sheet. An estimate that starts from the layout can.

  1. Pick the product and stock

Choose the product, the paper and the quantities you want to offer.

  2. Impose it

The layout engine works out the sheet, the up-count, any signatures, and work-and-turn or work-and-tumble.

  3. Price it from the layout

Paper, press time, coating and finishing are priced from the sheet the layout produces.

  4. Check the margin

Every quantity option shows true cost, suggested price and profit per press-hour.

The layout engine

Quotes that know how the sheet will run

Every estimate starts with an imposition. The layout engine works out how the piece lands on the press sheet, then prices paper, press time and finishing from that layout instead of from a rule of thumb.

  • Sheet layout and up-count calculated for each job
  • Signatures for booklets and multi-page work
  • Work-and-turn and work-and-tumble layouts
  • Each press runs a min–max sheet range or a set list of sizes; quotes only pick sheets the press can run, from your stocks’ registered cut sizes
  • In-line press coating (e.g. gloss aqueous) picked on the quote, with setup, area cost, make-ready time and coating plates (counted by work style) priced automatically
  • Change the stock or quantity and the layout and price update together
  • True cost, suggested price and profit per press-hour on every quantity option

Calibrated times

Press and bindery times measured, not guessed

Press and bindery estimates are calibrated against the runs your operators record. When the floor runs faster or slower than the estimate, the cost review shows it step by step, and the rates follow.

  • Makeready and run time estimated per press
  • Bindery operations timed the same way
  • Estimates compared with recorded actuals
  • Rates tuned to your equipment, not a generic table

Who it’s for

Made for sheetfed offset and digital cut-sheet work

Each press is set up with the sheet sizes it can run, so a quote never picks a sheet your press can’t take. Web (roll-fed) presses and wide format aren’t supported.

FAQ

Print estimating FAQ

What is imposition-based estimating?

The estimate starts from an actual layout of the job on the press sheet: how many pieces fit, how signatures fall and whether it runs work-and-turn or work-and-tumble. Paper, press time and finishing are then priced from that layout, so the quote matches how the job will really run.

Does it handle work-and-turn, work-and-tumble and signatures?

Yes. The layout engine works out work-and-turn and work-and-tumble layouts and signatures for booklets and multi-page work, and prices each from the sheet it produces.

Does it work for digital presses as well as offset?

Yes. InfusePrint is made for sheetfed offset and digital cut-sheet work. Each press runs a minimum–maximum sheet range or a set list of sizes, and quotes only pick sheets the press can run. Web (roll-fed) presses and wide format aren’t supported.

How are press and bindery times estimated?

Makeready and run time are estimated per press, and bindery operations are timed the same way. The estimates are calibrated against the runs your operators record, and the cost review shows estimated against actual time for every step.

Can I see the profit before I send a quote?

Yes. Every quantity option shows true cost, suggested price and profit per press-hour.

Is estimating an extra module?

No. Estimating is included in the $1,000 monthly price per shop, along with every other feature. See pricing.
