AI + open API
Put AI to work on your shop
Ask the AI assistant you already use what’s due tomorrow, what’s on hold or who owes you money, and get answers from live data. It works with the most popular AI assistants, including Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and Grok. Then automate the busywork through a documented REST API built for it.
How it works
Built on an open standard
InfusePrint includes a connector built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard that lets AI assistants connect to other software. You don’t need a special AI product or any programming.
1. Connect your assistant
Add the InfusePrint connector to the AI assistant your team already uses.
2. Ask in plain English
Type a question the way you’d ask someone in the office. No reports to build and no filters to set.
3. Get answers from live data
The assistant looks up the answer in InfusePrint, so it reflects what’s on the boards right now.
Which assistants
Works with the assistants your team already uses
Each of these lets you add a custom MCP connector in its regular app. What’s available depends on the assistant’s plan and account type, and providers change their plans, so check your assistant’s settings.
| Assistant | Where you can add the connector |
|---|---|
| Claude | Claude apps on the Free (one custom connector), Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans |
| ChatGPT | ChatGPT on the web, on Pro plans and on Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces (an admin adds it) |
| Gemini | The Gemini app with a personal Google account in the US, set up on the web (not work or school accounts) |
| Grok | Grok at grok.com (on Business and Enterprise, a team admin adds it first) |
Examples
Questions you could ask
- Due dates: “What’s due tomorrow, and is any of it still waiting on press?”
- Job status: “Where is job 4127 right now, and when will it ship?”
- Quotes: “Which quotes from the last two weeks need a follow-up?”
- Shipping: “What’s in the shipping queue today?”
- Proofs: “Which proofs are still waiting on customer approval?”
- Accounts receivable: “Give me an A/R summary. Who is past due?”
- Press board: “What’s on the press board, and what runs next?”
- Bindery: “What’s waiting in the bindery queue?”
Open API
Automate the busywork, without screen-scraping
In a lot of print software, the only way in is through the screens. Automating means a bot that clicks through the interface, and it breaks every time a button moves. Here the API is the way in, and it’s documented.
Web-store orders become quotes
An importer posts each online order straight in as a quote, tagged “Online storefront”. The same order can’t come in twice, and paid orders can go straight to production.
A shipping agent that prints its own labels
A label agent reads the UPS queue, buys and prints the labels, stores each one on its job and records the tracking, which shows up on the customer tracker.
Proofs uploaded and sent automatically
A prepress script uploads the proof file and sends it to the customer, so the job lands in the proof column without anyone touching it.
An estimating assistant that drafts quotes
An estimating agent drafts quotes from an email or a spec sheet. InfusePrint prices them; the agent can’t set a price or send anything, so your margins stay yours.
A morning briefing on request
Ask your AI assistant what’s due today, what’s on hold and which proofs are waiting, and get one answer from live data instead of four screens.
Let AI write the scripts
Point an AI coding assistant at the OpenAPI spec and describe what you want. It writes the importer, the label agent or the proof uploader against a documented API, not against screens that change.
Scoped API keys
Every key does one job
InfusePrint has a documented REST API (an OpenAPI spec, available with your API key) and scoped API keys. Each key carries only the roles you pick, can expire, can be revoked instantly, and every change it makes is in the audit log. Admin-level keys can't be created, and every write needs an idempotency key, so a retry never makes a duplicate.
- Ready-made key roles: storefront importer, proof uploader, shipping agent, estimating agent, prepress reader
- An estimating agent drafts quotes but can never set a price, send or delete
- Keys can expire and are revoked in one click
- “Last used” on every key, and its changes in the audit log
- Idempotent writes: a retried request never creates a duplicate
Read-only, by design
The AI can look things up. It can’t change anything.
The connector is read-only. Each person signs in with their own login and sees only what that login allows. Changes happen in InfusePrint, made by your staff or by automations you run through the API with scoped keys.
Through the connector, an assistant can’t
- Create, edit or delete jobs, quotes or customers
- Move a job on the production boards
- Approve or reject a proof
- Create shipping labels or send emails
- Change prices, invoices or payments
Your data, your choice
The connector is off unless your shop connects an assistant. When you do, the assistant reads only what your user asks about, and what the AI provider does with that data is covered by your shop’s own agreement with that provider. See our Privacy Policy and Security page.
